exercises in living
over the weekend, i had the chance to reread %%green%%excercises in style%% by %%purple%%raymond queneau%%. excellent read, highly recommended.
the book is simple. it takes a small slice of a day and tells it in 99 different ways. the themes are %%yellow%%repitition%%, %%orange%%mundanity%%, and %%cyan%%everyday life%%. it is about how we experience the world around us in so many different ways. %%yellow%%we can all experience the same thing, but walk away with our own story/interpretation of it%%.
it made me think about chores and routine less as a sisyphean struggle and more as an infinite number of chances to tell your story through what you do and how you do it. it is a highly humorous and %%green%%optimistic%% book. %%green%%everyday is an exercise in living%%.
as an aside, moving back to oax. has been amazing. i couldn't handle the cold and rain in xal., but still i am waking up each morning hoping for a little rain. dusty days, waiting for time to plant the garden thinking about varlerie june's little raindance. i'm feeling the love, but still gonna do my raindance and wash the dust down the bank.
