the cicada hunter
it is cicada season. the air is buzzing. which is nice, because i can't ever tell if it is the cicadas or my old man alcohol-driven tinnitus. %%green%%this morning we woke up early and made chocolate chip cookies to have with our coffee in the garden%%.
tennessee william's, the dog, was beneath the picnic table wanting to steal our cookies (even if they would poison him). totoro, sitting amongst the citronella's below the african tulip tree and waiting. the cicada's buzzing and flying between branches. %%red%%suddenly, he jumps into action, snatching a cicada right out of the air%%.
we wonder a moment, how many cicada's has he been eating a day? i see him eating one almost every hour. %%orange%%i think they are his favorite snack%%, and i much prefer he eat them than the birds. he has quickly turned into a great hunter. what will he do next month when the cicada's are gone? i don't really want to know.
🤓 tweaking my geopandas scripts today to include some more datasets so i can quickly create and analyse zipcodes + counties in gringolandia for work. we are trying to create a more accurate naming convention for state-based regions, as gringo states have colloquial suggestions for regions, but they don't work for us. so i need to break it down per county and then create region names that suit our workflows.
